Country house, now four separate dwellings. Early C18, extended late C19. Rubble stone, stone slate roof with stone stacks with moulded cappings. Rambling L-plan. Two-storey, 4-window north front. Late C19 two-storey porch to No 2 to left of centre has Tudor-arched doorway with hoodmould, single casement and 3-light mullioned and transomed casement to left, C20 door, 2-light mullioned casement and single lights to right. First floor has 4- light mullioned and transomed casement to porch, cross window to left and 3-light mullioned and transomed casement with gable to right. Bay projecting to left has 3-light ground floor mullioned casement and oriel to first floor, entrance to No 3 on left return of this bay. Single-storey wing to right is late C19 former music room; Tudor-arched doorway to left to No 1, three-light mullioned casement and 4-light mullioned and transomed casement with gable, north gable end has gabled stack with flanking quadrant bays with mullioned casements lighting inglenook, quatrefoil decoration to frieze and parapet, garden front of music room has C20 French windows and gabled mullioned and transomed casements, gableted hipped roof. Two-storey, 5-window early C18 garden front to No 1 has central semi-circular niches with two 12-pane sashes either side to both floors; thick glazing bars, pilasters carried up to moulded stone cornice, decorated lead rainwater gutter, same as gutter on music room, two hipped attic dormers with 2-light casements to steeply hipped roof. Rear of main range has large mullioned and transomed casements, large canted bay to centre, gabled projecting wings to right. No 4 is in single-storey former outbuilding to left return of main range; said to have been the dairy. Interior of No 1 retains good fittings of first quarter of C18; open. well stairs with two turned balusters per open tread, ramped handrail with Tuscan newels, top-lit by C19 oval light, C19 panelled dado. Good doors with 4 fielded panels, panelled reveals and moulded architraves. Drawing room has white marble fireplace brought here from No 26 The Circus, Bath, fielded panelling above dado. Music room is good example of late C19 with deep arch-braced collar truss roof on stone corbels, large inglenook with segmental- arched opening and Tudor-arched fireplace within; Caillard family arms above arch and French motto over fireplace, pair of trefoiled windows at opposite end of room, above segmental arch formerly filled by an organ. This early C18 house extensively extended late C19 by Caillard family, divided into four separate dwellings during 1940s.
