Spring Gardens and Barn Attached, Corsham, Wiltshire, SN13 (Grade II)

CORSHAM PRIORY STREET ST 87 70 (south side) 5/348 Nos. 1 to 6 (consec.) Spring Gardens and barn attached. GV II

Cottage row with outbuilding at right angles, probably C18, rubble stone with stone tiled roof, 3 ridge stacks and west end stack. Two storeys. Original flush bead-moulded windows. East end wall has door to No 1 with original single light to left, altered first floor window. South front, from right, section with upper original single light and 3-light windows over 2 doors, original 3-light window and stone-tiled lean-to. Central section, No 5, projects, apparently an altered lean-to cart-entry, raised to flat roof and with casements to both floors. Double-fronted section to right with flush quoins to left, upper original 2-light window and casement, lower original 2-light window, door in chamfered surround and C20 casement. To left is end section with lower 2-light recessed cyma-moulded window, dripcourse over and 2 upper casement pairs. West gable end has dove openings over 2-window range of recessed 2-light cyma-moulded windows, single hoodmould over upper pair, hoodmoulds over blocked lower pair. North side of cottage range has, from left, stone-tiled lean-to, 3-light ground floor window, brick lean-to with 4-pane window over, 3-light over 4-light window and flush quoins to right section with single light and 3- light over 3-light and blocked door in chamfered surround. Barn wing running north has, from left, door in timber-lintel recess, under eaves dormer with casement, single light, casement pair in bead-moulded surround with hoodmould, recessed cyma-moulded single light under dripcourse, triple casement, door in flush bead-moulded doorcase with dripmould and triple casement. Hipped north gable. No 5 has unmoulded Tudor-arched fireplace.
