House and shop, 1849, ashlar with slate roof, coped gables and end wall stacks. Two storeys, 5-window range. Upper floor with raised angle strips, moulded cornice, parapet and five 12-pane sashes. Ground floor with 4 doors alternating with 3 plate glass shop windows, doors with overlights and each framed in Doric pilasters supporting a continuous frieze and moulded cornice. Blank window to left of left door and additional pilaster, making 9 in all. Rear altered, originally 2-window range with upper 12- pane sashes and ground floor tripartite 4-8-4 pane sashes. Recessed section to right has stepped 12-pane sashes lighting stair. House was grocery and drapery store of Spackman family from early C19, rebuilt after destruction by fire 1849. To rear south-east is C17 cottage, rubble stone with stone tiles, coped east gable and end stack. Attic picturesque C19 dormer, 3- light ovolo-moulded windows to first and ground floors with hoodmould. East end door. (Sharp & Tanner eds. A Corsham Boyhood: The Diary of H. Spackman, 1877-91.)
