House, now with 2 shops on the ground storey, but formerly with a girls’ boarding school. Early C19 front; earlier core. Timber-framed; faced in white brick; pantiled roof with a plain parapet and brick dentil cornice. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and attics. 5 window range: 12-pane sashes in plain reveals with flat gauged arches and projecting stone sills. 2 flat-headed dormers in the roof with C20 casement windows. A central doorcase with panelled reveals, panelled pilasters and open pediment. A C20 door with a semicircular fanlight is flanked by 2 early C20 double shop fronts with recessed central entries. A C17 2-storey rear wing has an internal chimney-stack with a blank recessed panel at the base. INTERIOR: little remains inside. C19 stair with turned balusters, plain handrail and open strings with applied bracketing.
