About Hawkeridge Farmhouse

HEYWOOD HAWKERIDGE ST 85 SE (south side) 4/186 Hawkeridge Farmhouse II Farmhouse, now detached house. Mid C17, extended 1860s. Rendered brick, Welsh slate roof, rendered stacks. T-plan. Two-storey, 2- window north east front. Six panelled door in cast-iron tent porch to left of centre, 2-light C19 mullioned casement with hoodmould to left. First floor has two cross windows, dentilled brick eaves cornice. 1860s wing to right has 2-light mullioned casements and cross windows, lateral stack with partly illegible datestone. Rear facing farmyard has 6-panelled door in C19 lean-to porch, pair of small sashes in hollow-chamfered mullioned surround with hoodmould to left and single sash with hoodmould and 2-light mullioned sash to right. First floor has three hollow-chamfered cross windows, the lower centre one lights the stairs and has a hoodmould, dentilled brick eaves. Attached to north west return is 2-storey C19 range with casements and French windows. Interior has mainly C18 and C19 joinery; 6-panelled doors, dogleg stairs with stick and turned balusters, corner cupboard in kitchen with fielded panelled doors and dentilled cornice. Chamfered beams retained in entrance hall. Four-bay original roof, the east end partitioned off and with C17 six-panelled wainscot door.
