Gamekeeper’s cottage of Draycot estate, 1858, squared rubble stone with Bridgwater tile deep-eaved roof and two rebuilt ridge stacks. 1 1/2 storeys, symmmetrical front with two gables and recessed centre, also gabled, the gables with ornate Gothic barge boards, also continued on side eaves. Picturesque Gothic style with 2-light pointed windows, cusped with quatrefoil heads and hoodmoulds. Each main gable had one upper window and two below each side of door in rough tufa surround. Right gable has 1858 date plaque in apex, upper window is blank and door is blocked. Left gable has apex armorial plaque, first floor single light and altered ground floor with C20 windows. Recessed centre has first floor 2-light and ground floor C20 window. A three-bay tiled verandah on timber posts is to be replaced (1986). Rear left gable has similar barge boards, casement pair and pointed doorway with original door. Rear centre has one horizontal sliding sash, and right has 1986 extension. Interior: South end room has fine early to mid C18 stone fireplace and shelf. House is illustrated ‘Draycot House Estate’ sale catalogue 28.7.1922.
