DILTON MARSH WESTBURY LEIGH ST 84 NE (north side) 8/125 Bridge Farmhouse (formerly listed as Westbury Leigh) 11.9.68 II Inn, now detached house. Mid C17, altered and additions C18 and C19. Front C18 range faced in ashlar with hipped Bridgewater tiled roof, stone stacks, rear wing formerly timber-framed and rebuilt in English garden wall bond brick with Welsh slate roof and three diagonally-set brick stacks. L-plan. Two-storey, 5-window. Central double panelled doors with flanking unfluted columns with egg and dart capitals to fluted frieze and cornice, two 12-pane sashes either side. Centre three bays break forward. Moulded string course to first floor; central blind window with pediment, two sashes either side, the outer ones with pediments, frieze with swags and half-pilasters to centre three bays, pilasters to sides carried up to cornice and plain blocking course. Right return has sash and blind window to ground and first floor. Left return has lean-to shed attached. Rear of main range has lean-to extension. C17 wing to rear has 4-panelled door and 2-light casements to ground and first floor on east side, west side retains some timber- framing, 2-light casements. Interior not accessible at time of survey (June 1986). Formerly known as the Apple Tree Inn.
