STALLARD STREET 1. 5411 (South East Side) Nos 52 to 54 (consec) ST 8557 6/375 II GV
Circa 1878 presumably by William Smith (the local architect, see Nos 55 to 57). Italianate. 3 storeys, relating to Nos 55 to 57 (qv). Ashlar front. Slightly angled and framed by pier strips. 1st and 2nd floor cill bands, band to cornice, blocking course. 2 pairs of windows in centre and 2 further windows on each side; plate glass sashes, round headed with architrave and keystone; also an impost moulding of acanthus leaves, wider on 1st floor than on 2nd. 1 segmental headed window with rustic quoins and voussoirs on ground floor and round headed doorway with similar treatment to left of No 53 has a late Cl9 shop front with 3 panelled pilasters and brackets to fascia. No 52 has wide C20 shop front with central entrance.
Nos 50 to 58 (consec), workshop at rear of No 58, entrance screen principal Factory and Handle House at Studley Mills form a group.
